Common questions
The verification code did not arrive
Codes are sent by email and expire after 15 minutes. Check your spam folder, then ask for a new code. A new code replaces the old one, so use the latest.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and we will email you a code to set a new one. Setting a new password signs you out on every device.
How is my calorie target worked out?
From what you told CalorieMiles when you signed up: an estimate of the energy you burn at rest (the Mifflin-St Jeor formula), multiplied by your activity level, then adjusted for your goal and the pace you chose. It never goes below 1,200 kcal a day (1,500 for men), and you can change it in the app. It is an estimate, not medical advice. See the terms.
My steps are not showing
CalorieMiles reads steps and workouts from Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iPhone, or counts steps with this phone's own sensor, with your permission. Check the connection in Profile. CalorieMiles only reads from them and never writes.
How does scanning a meal photo work?
Tap Scan a photo when adding food. The photo is sent to Google's Gemini service, which names the foods and estimates the amounts; CalorieMiles matches each one to its food catalogue. Check every name and amount before adding them: the estimates can be wrong. The photo is not kept, and where it was taken is removed first. You can turn scanning off in Profile. See the privacy policy for what Google receives.
How do I get a copy of my data?
Profile → Download my data returns everything CalorieMiles holds about you as a JSON file.
How do I delete my account?
See Delete your account.
